Carla Catherine Viktor is crowned Miss Earth South Africa 2015

Representing South Africa in Miss Earth pageant coming up in December in Austria is Carla Catherine Viktor. The 24 years old, degree holder from University of Pretoria was crowned Miss Earth South Africa 2015 yesterday, September 10, 2015 at the Palazzo Hotel at Monte Casino. She defeated 15 other contestants to be crowned by the outgoing queen Ilze Saunders who took 1st and 2nd in National Costume and Miss Friendship respectively in Miss Earth 2014.

Carla believes in the principle of Ubuntu, “I am because we all are”  and believes that we create our own opportunities, and it’s when we can use these opportunities to better the world around us that we realize it’s not about a title, but rather the purpose behind the title. She considers the greatest threat to our planet to be the belief that someone else will do the work for us, and even though it might be difficult to change to whole world all at once, we can start where we are, with what we have, and ultimately teach and inspire others to do the same.

South Africa has no record of win since its initiation in 2001. However had placed in Top 16 thrice by Bokang Montjane in 2007,  Chanel Grantham  in 2009 and Ashanti Mbanga in 2013. Bagged its highest placement in 2010 when Nondyebo Dzingwa placed Top 7.  The organization is headed by Catherine Constantinides, a representative at Miss Earth 2003 but failed to be placed.
