On Saturday, August 5 in Bogota, María Alejandra López was 
crowned Miss Mundo Colombia 2015. She is 21-year-old, stands 1.78m tall 
and a student of Industrial Engineering. She bested 20 other contestants
 to win the honour of representing Colombia at Miss World 2015 to be 
held in China, later this year. Jessica Leandra Garcia Caicedo, Miss 
Mundo Colombia 2014 crowned her at the end of the national pageant.
Vivian Tatiana Martínez was adjudged 1st runner-up and María Alejandra Chacón Laguado was adjudged 2nd runner-up.
Colombia has never won the Miss World title but had been placed six 
times in the finalist since 1992. The peak of Colombia's placement in 
Miss World so far was in 1996 and 2002 when Carolina Arango 
Corrales and Natalia Peralta Castro were crowned as 1st runner-up and 
were awarded the title of Continental Queens for America.
