Neely Fortune, 24 was crowned Miss Vermont USA 2016 at the conclusion of the state
pageant, held on November 2nd, 2015 at the Flynn Center for the
Performing Arts in Burlington. She is 5'6 tall from Burlington and will now represent Vermont at the
next edition of Miss USA 2016.
She was crowned by by
Miss Vermont USA 2015, Jackie Croft. Her runners ups were Karly Fereday (1st) and Joanna Nagle (2nd). Also at the event, Tammy Vujanovic was crowned as the Miss TEEn USA 2015 delegate of the state.
She is a graduate of Wildlife Biology Forestry from University of Vermont. Her career ambition is to achieve her Masters in Conservation
Wildlife biology to help protect our environment and endangered mammals
so that future generations can enjoy the mental, spiritual and health
benefits of a healthy ecosystem. Her hobbies include competing in Spartan Races/endurance races, adventure
hiking, CrossFit, rock climbing, knitting hats and scarves, and
vegetable gardening. She described herself as adventurous, determined,
and courageous.
Neely had previously finished as 1st and 2nd runner up at Miss Vermont
USA 2015 and 2014 respectively. Vermont has only won a Miss USA crown
which was 50 years ago, courtesy of Carlene King Johnson of 1955. The state has not placed in recent years as its last placement as Top 12 was in 1982 by Georgia Davis.
