Know More About This Pageant

This pageant is unrelated to the Miss Virgin Islands or Miss British Virgin Islands pageant. Between 1982 and 2011 the 1st Runner-up of Miss U.S. Virgin Islands represented their country at the Miss World pageant. But this changed in 2012 as the Miss Paradise U.S. Virgin Islands winner now send its winner to represent the US Virgin Island at Miss World pageant.

Despite its small size and relative obscurity, US Virgin Islands managed to land at the Miss World semifinals in 3 instances. In 1989, Vania Thomas became one of the 10 semifinalists when the pageant was held in Hong Kong. In 2005, Kmisha Counts became one of the semifinalists after winning the talent fast track event. Her golden voice swayed the judges in her favor. Similarly, Esonica Veira’s talent can be credited for being one of the Top 15 finishers at Miss World 2011.
