25-year-old
Phạm Thị Hương was crowned as
Hậu Hoàn Vũ Việt Nam 2015 (
Miss Universe Vietnam 2015) at the national event held at Diamond Bay Resort in Nha Trang,
Vietnam. She defeated 44 other contestants win the official right to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2015. At the same event,
Ngô Trà My finished as first runner-up and Thị Lệ Hằng was adjudged as
second runner-up. The event was Nha Trang was also the host city for Miss Universe 2008.

Phạm is a lecturer at the
College of Cultural Arts in Saigon and was into modelling and pageants
before she won the title of Miss Universe Vietnam 2015. It is interesting to know how government
regulations controls the pageants in Vietnam where they allow only one
pageant to be held annually for selecting a Miss Vietnam. However, it
seems as if the ban was lifted because we have seen Miss Universe
Vietnam and Miss World Vietnam being held in the same year. This should
give a good thrust to the pageant scene in Vietnam, hopefully.

Do you also know that Vietnam hosted Miss Universe 2008 where the first winner of the official national contest, Nguyen Thuy Lam finished Top 15. Also hosted Miss Earth 2010 where Lưu Thị Diễm Hương of Vietnam finished as a semifinalist. Vietnam's 2013 delegate, Trương Thị May was the last representative at Miss Universe as Vietnam made a withdrawal in Miss Universe 2014.
