Theresa Agonia, Miss RI USA 2016 |
Theresa M. Agonia, won Miss
Rhode Island USA 2016 title on August 30, 2015, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center
in Providence, Rhode Island. She is 23 years old from Cumberland and stands 5'8" tall. She vied against 46 contestants to succeeds Anea Garcia who finished as 2RU at the 2015 Miss USA Pageant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Theresa will
represent Rhode Island at the national MISS USA 2016.
Malia Cruz was also adjudged as Miss RI Teen USA 201 at the same event.

Theresa is not new to pageant and has been successful ever since. She
had been contesting since 2008 where she finished as a semifinalist at
Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2008. She was 3RU at Miss Rhode Island Teen
USA 2009, semifinalist at Miss Rhode Island USA 2012, 4RU at Miss Rhode
Island USA 2013 and 2RU at Miss Rhode Island USA 2014. She is a graduate
of Roger
Williams University where had a degree in Media Communication. Agonia is
a former vice-president of the Public
Relations Student Society of America chapter at RWU. Theresa loves
traveling, pageantry, sports and can speak English, Portuguese, Spanish
and French.

Her runners up were 1st runner-up – Kelsey Swanson, 2nd runner-up – Kristen Hanlon, 3rd runner-up – Asia Turner and 4th runner-up – Lyndsey Laramee.
Historically, Rhode Island has been comparatively unsuccessful at Miss USA
but has been one of the most consistent states since 2000, with one win, four
semi-finalist placements and one first runner-up placement. In 2012, Olivia Culpo won the first Miss USA and Miss Universe title for Rhode Island.However, before Olivia,Danielle Lacourse also made an inch close to the crown by finishing as 1RU at Miss USA 2007.
